Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms carefully before booking a trip or using our services.

Last updated — June 2025

By booking a trip with Mountain Slayers Kenya, registering through our forms, or using mountainslayers.co.ke, you agree to the terms set out below. If you do not agree, please do not proceed with a booking.

01About Mountain Slayers Kenya

Mountain Slayers Kenya is a registered adventure hiking and expedition company based in Nairobi, Kenya. We organise group trips, big-mountain expeditions, day hikes, overnight adventures, and custom travel experiences. Our guides are trained and certified in mountain safety and first aid.

02Booking & Registration

A booking is confirmed only when we have received your completed registration form and the required deposit or full payment, and you have received written confirmation from Mountain Slayers Kenya via email or WhatsApp.

  • Registering your interest online does not guarantee a place on a trip.
  • Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis based on confirmed payment.
  • We reserve the right to decline any booking at our discretion.
  • Participants under the age of 18 must have written consent from a parent or legal guardian.

03Payments & Deposits

Trip prices are published on our website and social media. Prices are in Kenyan Shillings (KES) unless otherwise stated. We reserve the right to adjust prices in advance of booking confirmation.

  • A deposit (typically 50% of the trip fee) is required to secure your place unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • The balance is due by the date communicated to you at the time of booking.
  • Failure to pay the balance by the due date may result in forfeiture of your deposit and cancellation of your place.
  • Payments are made via M-Pesa, bank transfer, or other methods as communicated — never to third parties not authorised by Mountain Slayers Kenya.

04Cancellation & Refunds

We understand that plans change. Our cancellation policy is as follows:

  • More than 30 days before departure — full refund minus a Ksh 500 administration fee, or full credit toward a future trip.
  • 15–30 days before departure — 50% refund, or full credit toward a future trip.
  • Less than 15 days before departure — no refund. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers trip cancellation.
  • If Mountain Slayers Kenya cancels a trip due to safety concerns, insufficient numbers, or circumstances beyond our control, you will receive a full refund or credit.

05Health, Fitness & Medical Conditions

Hiking and mountaineering activities carry inherent physical demands. By booking, you confirm that:

  • You are in good physical health and are fit enough to participate in the trip you have booked.
  • You have disclosed any relevant medical conditions, allergies, or mobility limitations to us in writing prior to departure.
  • You have consulted a medical professional if you have any concerns about your ability to participate.

Mountain Slayers Kenya reserves the right to refuse participation or remove a participant from a trip on safety or medical grounds, with no obligation to refund.

Our Commitment to Your Safety

We are trained and certified in wilderness first aid and mountain safety. All guides carry first-aid kits, and emergency protocols are in place for every trip. Safety is never compromised.

06Liability & Risk

Adventure activities involve risk. By participating in any Mountain Slayers Kenya trip, you acknowledge and accept that:

  • Hiking, trekking, and mountaineering carry inherent risks including injury, illness, and in extreme cases, death.
  • Mountain Slayers Kenya and its guides take all reasonable precautions to minimise risk, but cannot eliminate it entirely.
  • You participate voluntarily and at your own risk.
  • Mountain Slayers Kenya shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, or death arising from participation in our trips, except where caused by our negligence.

We strongly recommend that all participants take out comprehensive travel and adventure sports insurance before departure.

07Behaviour & Code of Conduct

Mountain Slayers Kenya is built on community, respect, and love for nature. All participants are expected to:

  • Treat fellow hikers, guides, local communities, and the environment with respect.
  • Follow the instructions of guides at all times — their word on safety matters is final.
  • Not behave in a way that endangers themselves or others.
  • Leave no trace — carry out all waste and respect wildlife and natural habitats.

Mountain Slayers Kenya reserves the right to remove any participant who violates this code of conduct, without refund.

08Photography & Media

On our trips, photos and videos may be taken by guides and fellow participants. By booking, you grant Mountain Slayers Kenya the right to use images in which you appear for marketing and promotional purposes (including on social media and our website), unless you opt out in writing before the trip.

09Itinerary Changes

We plan every trip meticulously, but the mountains have their own rules. Mountain Slayers Kenya reserves the right to alter routes, destinations, dates, or accommodation where necessary due to weather, safety, political or other conditions beyond our control. Where significant changes are made, we will communicate with you promptly.

10Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising from them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.

11Updates to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The date at the top of this page indicates when they were last revised. The version in effect at the time of your booking applies to that booking.
